As ex B4, I had a much easier time with exit opps than my non B4 counterparts. Also, the people I worked for in B4 then become my bosses in the exit industry and have recruited me to higher positions at bigger brand names than my non B4 peers

would you say it's not worth it working for big 4 in the long run?

All things equal I’d pick any big 4 for the name recognition. But GT isn’t exactly small so if you like the people better or the pay is higher I would consider it over B4

like

GT would generally pay less than Big4

like

Obviously biased but you’ll never get the same breadth of experience as you would at big 4, especially your first years out of college. It’s also significantly easier to go from big 4 to anywhere else vs trying to come into big 4 later in your career

like

Big4 in the US does not pay overtime. I’m biased, but objective 😉 and you’ve already said you don’t want to be at the best tax practice.

like

Big4 no doubt. Take it from me who started initially at GT and moved to a Big4. There is more exposure and better comp pack in the long run. Support is way better too…

like

generally better to start at big 4 unless you have a specific reason to prefer smaller firm. if unsure go big 4.

like

Generally I will say role over prestige.
But if role is the same go prestige.
As in gt fdd advisory beats big 4 audit
But big 4 audit beats Gt audit

like

I’m at GT - go big 4.

like

WLB isn’t better. Perks aren’t good. You’ll be tired either way but pay, name recognition, opportunities - all better big 4 wise. GT’s so behind on things honestly.

Hi
Would love to get your opinion on this-
I am planning on applying to business school this year in round 1 and round 2. I am in india working at D. I have received an offer to work with another big 4 in London as manager with their consulting team starting June. The role is definitely a step up in terms of responsibilities from my current role as a senior consultant. Do you think it might hamper my business school application changing jobs so close to round 1? Have been at D for 4 yrs

Plus my current financial situation is stressful and I accepted the offer on certain conditions but now hr or the firm but saying we can't committ you. Any suggestions.

I literally had to show someone higher rank than me probably 30ish, how to do a “find” in excel for the workbook. This isn’t limited to people who have been out of school for awhile. This also includes new hires and staff, and seniors. Partners forget about it.
