How do I become an MBB employee? Is it possible to gain experience at big 4+ACN and then get referred in??

Anyone have any experience with the “spousal equivalent” question at Ernst and Young or other big 4? I have received an offer to work with another big 4 in London as manager with their consulting team starting June. The role is definitely a step up in terms of responsibilities from my current role as a senior consultant. Do you think it might hamper my business school application changing jobs so close to round 1? Have been at D for 4 yrs

Estimated tax payment question:
I converted $30k of rollover 401k into a Roth IRA and have $26k of realized ST Capital Gains this year (Roth conversion in end of Q1 and most capital gains in Q2).
My total federal withholding tax last year was approximately $12k and this year I will have 40% more in reported income on my employer W2 and anticipate higher that $12k federal withholding for my new job. Given this, what is the best way to go about making est. tax payments for the income (continued.)

One of my senior managers is a boomerang and told me she was laid off when she was 7 months pregnant about 10 years ago. I think she was a senior or manager. She was in a specific group and everybody was laid off. It wasn’t performance based.

I am surprised and concerned about the fact that a lot of my colleagues do not have good excel skills. I literally had to show someone higher rank than me probably 30ish, how to do a “find” in excel for the workbook. This isn’t limited to people who have been out of school for awhile. This also includes new hires and staff, and seniors. Partners forget about it. They probably aren’t involved at all in building out the work paperwork but I feel staff, seniors and managers should be good users

Best advice for someone looking to get out of tax? Would prefer a role that deals with financial/strategic analysis and financial modeling in order to assist in making strategic business decisions
