It’s very possible they are scapegoating you. This happens to women of color in white workplaces, for example, where the aggressor knows women of color are easy targets.
I would make and preserve a paper trail by sending CYA emails confirming instructions and priorities from this mid-level, saving all emails into your shared database so nothing gets deleted, avoiding Teams chats or other messaging platforms, and keeping a running list of these incidents.
You may also want to discuss this with a trusted partner soon, in advance of anything showing up in a review from this mid level.
If you suspect it is discrimination and want to report it, it’s best to consult with an employment lawyer before doing so.
Pulling me in to projects where tensions with clients are high and when the client points out a small mistake, they chime in and ask me to be more careful. The error was not on purpose end (the client’s) but I feel like the mid-Level is using the opportunity to make me look bad. Am I being set up or just going crazy?
If they’re the midlevel it’s their fault too for not catching it. They’re covering their behind and not realizing they’re making themself look bad for not properly supervising.
