Can you go into negative PTO at BDO and then accrue it back?

Just got this message from my manager - “For the summer, in addition to the days off you have requested, can you let me know which weekends you are NOT available (even if you don’t need to take any PTO). This will allow me to manage weekend projects. Please just drop me a note and let me know which weekends.” Does anyone else find this sort of insane? There’s something insidious to the suggestion that if I don’t have plans on a specific weekend than I’m just up for grabs for them. Is this fair?

I've been planning a vacation for my 5 year wedding anniversary and recently floated the dates I was looking to take off to my Principal and he responded that he's never seen anyone take 2 weeks unless it was for a wedding/honeymoon. Regardless, if thats true, given that precovid, he (who was a VP at the time) and my MD (who was a principal at the time) used to take 2 weeks every summer, is a 2 week vacation excessive in the PE space? I've been here 5 years and feel like I've earned it.
