Considering making the switch from accounting (1 YOE) to HR. I’m early on in my research and wanted to know if there were any fields in HR that were 40 hrs/week (payroll, compensation, HRIS)?

HR can be incredibly rewarding but also extremely taxing mentally and emotionally. If you are ready to invest in people wholly then do it. But if you aren’t ready for that stay where it’s safe.

I made the switch from public accounting to recruiting agency and now HR. Unfortunately for me, my hours are similar to what I experienced working at EY. I think I learned unhealthy work life boundaries and I’m having a hard time sticking to 40 hours a week. I admire people who Can. One thing my CRO said was “you buy your work life balance by putting your hours in during your early years of career development”.

like

All of the above.
I moved from accounting into payroll into HR/HRIS.

like

You can get hours. Tons of work going around if you learn Workday. Different kind of hard though.

like

I know lots of people that switched from accounting to HR/HRIS and analytics! Find the transferrable skills :)

You have to set boundaries early on. Work 8:30-5:30 with an hour break. My boss is super flex if I need to leave early or come in late. All I have to do is communicate. None of my coworkers work past 5-5:30

And all come in between 8 and 9 am.

Yep I've seen people make the jump as analytics tend to be a good fit with lots of transferrable skills

So, a recruiter gave me feedback that my lack SPHR or SHRM-SCP is causing my resume to be knock out by AI and human recruiters despite my position and work history in Multinationals and being in Technology. They suggested that we put SPHR ( Lapsed). I let it lapse in 2017. What is your opinion? Plus if I were to take another certification - should I take SPHR or SHRM-SCP?
