Following, I don't have kids but probably same skill level as an inexperienced 5 year old.

As someone who spent 100 day ski seasons in CO growing up- you don’t need to go Aspen or Beaver Creek… if you have beginners consider a smaller area (wolf creek, maybe steamboat, somewhere in summit county (breck, keystone or even Dillon/frisco and rent a house/condo).
You can get a lot more value out of the smaller areas as a beginner and spend the money on nicer accommodations, an extra day or private lessons etc, (that are much cheaper than vail/aspen) and fun dinners.
If you really want the aspen or vail vibe that’s one thing, but with kids I would say go summit county, do the sleigh rides, tubing for a day etc- it’s hard to push every day as a ski day and these places aren’t cheap for tourists.
Ha, I’m super cheap on most things. Travel is one place I will splurge
SM1 - I like your logic and have actually wanted to go to Steamboat for awhile. But I started planning based on who has Marriott point rooms available and it’s really only Aspen and BC. Thanks!
BC is considered an extremely family friendly resort and mountain! It’s where I take my kids to learn. It had really limited runs open a few weeks back but I’m not sure if theyve gotten a ton more snow since
Thanks! Wouldn’t go for a couple of months so I assume snow will take care of that by then!
While I’ve not been to BC and therefore can’t compare, I can say Aspen is very easy to navigate. I believe there’s a free ski bus that travels to the various resorts. Since you are beginners, you probably want to spend most of your time at Buttermilk or Snowmass, in which case staying in Snowmass would make sense for you. If you need any other tips, feel free to DM me - I’ve been many times.
I learned to ski in Snowmass — went every year growing up. Great place for beginners and families.
Bc is very kid friendly (where I learned) you can also go to vail for the day
Aspen is great, best town there is, you can find direct flights to vail and drive , much more reliable than aspens airport stay in Aspen town, not Snowmass. bC is more family friendly ski terms wise, but I grew up skiing both with my family so both good
