Why do some people get laid off and others not? Is it always utilization? Do people typically know they're at risk before it gets to that point?

Hello! I’d like to share an experience and hopefully receive guidance.

I spent two years as an executive, and while I was providing what I believe was impactful work, and receiving praises across the board, I got fired from one day to the other without any explanation.

After a few weeks, some managers (who were under me) shared that there had been a while campaign raised against me for a couple of months by others VPs and shareholders. 1/2

@PWC is worst company for freshers. They are force innocents to resign by themselves and threating then to not to mail anyone and not share this context to anyone worst company, if layoff means ok removing and threatening to not to disclose to anyone means the have lost every single moral. Don't fall trap in the brand name @PWC.

After you are stealth laid off, other than job search, what do you do? I assume they won’t give you work and even if they do, you can politely decline? How do you feel about you are not progressing anymore and seeing other people progressing in their career? I have no intention to make partner, but still feel a bit stuck not doing that much.

It’s hard to trust the partners/leadership when they want us to return to office as being better when we increase offshoring? Question for tax folks. So I have purchased shares of a public ally traded partnership. I have received a K1 and it shows my portion of income. I will report on my tax return and pay tax. Which offer should I accept? Currently staff 2 at big 4 in Tax with CPA license. I want to leave tax ASAP. Both are public companies +1B in revenue and same salary. On an initial call with a company's recruiter, I was told the salary range. I said that the base pay is lower than what I make now, but with equity it's about equal, so it would be ok. If I actually receive an offer after the interview process, can I ask the company to match or at least get closer on the base pay? I'm also up for promotion this year so like to get a higher salary, but not sure if by saying "ok" to the recruiter's salary range that it'd look bad to ask for more later.c
