Deloitte 🐟 - how long do we have to work to earn the full 401k contribution? I heard it was 4 years.

Pension benefits vest in 3 years, believe 401k is the same. You can find it explicitly written in firm documents on the topic. Just search for 401k vest in TOD

Thanks M1! I found the document and it said 4 years. You keep 60% of Deloitte’s contributions if you stay 3 years.

Has anyone tried rolling their Roth or traditional 401k at EY into their IRA while still at EY? I'm thinking of rolling my 401k balance to my IRA for more flexibility to invest in stocks/ETFs vs just mutual funds. Is there any value in keeping the funds in a 401k vs rolling them into an IRA?

I’m the one whose ex won’t pay for college - and I have an update. My ex texted me today that he and his wife are buying our son a car (!!) for Christmas. On the one hand, it’s one less expense for me. On the other hand, my ex won’t pay for college and he owes me at least $10K for previous medical expenses, but he can find money for a car - which is a “fun” expense that will get him brownie points with our son. Whatever - my son benefits, but talk about a “Disneyland Dad.” Ugh.

Campus hire. Few months late but enrolling in my 401K and going to do a Roth, as well. I keep seeing that you should “maximize” both. What does that mean? Is there a calculation or common principle?
