I'm a senior in the group, OP. I would say that the hours of the course of the year are very similar to audit. The only thing is that the hours are much more sporadic. There have been times when I've been on a quick 4 week deal where working around 15 hours a day because the client only has a 30-day exclusivity period and needs it done, others where it's a long couple months sell-side job that goes a bit slower. Then there have been times where I haven't worked for 2-6 weeks straight because deal volume is low. In short the hours really all depend on the type of deal and current market conditions. Day to day is hard to explain, but basically we take the target company's data, create data books around both both BS and IS, analyzing things such as quality of earnings, net working capital, etc and ultimately put together a report to deliver on these two large topics, amongst other things. During the course of the deal we constantly have management calls and updates to go over items to get better clarity as well
TAS any day
TAS any day over FAAS, I have no desire to become a glorified technical accountant. I'm in TAS and can say from what I've seen, there is definitely more travel in FAAS. There are a large amount of FAAS projects where travel is from Monday-Thursday every week until it's finished. I've travelled a bit in TAS but it's mostly for management meetings at the target company for a couple days, etc. The only difference with travel in TAS really is that you could be notified that you need to fly out within hours to get somewhere.
What kind of background will the firm look for to get into TAS?
Office? Which one has better exit opps? Thanks in advance!
100% TAS
And TAS most likely would require travel. Not sure on FAAS
@EY3- What level are you? What is your day to day work like? How would you compare the hrs to those in audit?
Thanks so much EY3! This is really helpful!
From what I've seen, turnover in TAS is much higher than FAAS
