It depends on the parent. I don't post anything I don't want my 12 year old niece seeing anyways.
Same here. I post very little and I actually “unfollow” most people as well. If it’s a parent that I felt I’d be friends with outside of school, I’ll accept a request. I don’t accept requests from students until after they graduated high school. My district doesn’t have a policy about it
No! And no students either. I am rather locked down
I do not friend them til the year is over and I no longer have their student in class.
Create separate accounts! As we move toward a more technologically savvy world communication through social media will become more and more prevalent! There is ABSOLUTELY nothing wrong with creating a open teacher Instagram, Twitter, and or Facebook page while making your personal pages private.
Great idea!!
I tell all school related requests that as soon as the youngest child in the family has left my school, I will gladly have them as social media friends. It is extra tricky for me since my own kids go to my school!
My child goes to my school too! His friend’s brother was in my class. So tough but I felt my social media page was very generic
My district allows it. I’ve friended them and left my instagram for my close friends and family
That’s a good compromise. It’s tough as you teach longer because you do want to stay in touch with families!
I do not, as I’ve seen it lead to trouble with colleagues. One parent printed a teacher’s picture wearing a bikini while at the beach, went to the school board with it, and tried getting her fired for dressing inappropriate.
Yikes!!
I’m from a small town. If I wasn’t your “friend” before your child was in my class, we don’t need to be “friends” now.
No way! I know some that do, but I never could.
