They will probably be fine tbh
There are plumbers and electricians making six-figure incomes with zero college debt. Just saying…
I'm thriving!
I’m from overseas and higher education isn’t the be all and end all that it is in the USA. Additionally, US tuition costs are insane. If you invested what you’d spend on education, you’d probably get better returns.
Probably just fine if they choose a trade such as an electrician or plumbing or get an apprenticeship with a big company. A college education is overhyped imo unless you do a very focused degree such as engineering, medicine etc.
I wonder what would have happened had I known about the variety of trade school options. When I was in H.S., they had auto-working and cosmetology, and that was it. I had no clue how many different types of careers existed that allowed you to work with your hands. I never even imagined I'd enjoy something like that until years later. I went to a great high school in terms of the educational foundation I received, but they did nothing in terms of making students aware of career paths. When I went to college, I just got a degree in what I was good at. I didn't give a thought as to what I would "do" with it. I was a girl, so I wasn't supposed to have to work anyway. I just worried about grades and graduating with honors. I got lucky and found my way into a career path, but I had no other options. To this day, after 30 years, I still don't have a clue as to what I'd actually enjoy doing. Not a freaking clue.
