Is HARMAN really recruiting for permanent remote roles? Would they ask us to come to office after sometime? I am a bachelor woman supporting my sickly parents and can't move them out of city. And my city don't have harman office. HR did mention permanent remote, still want to confirm as I've heard many cases people were called back across different product based companies. I think companies defo should cover ergonomic chairs and desks for those who needed to purchase it, as well as water, airco/heating, electricity, and internet/phone bills!
(Not that mine does any of those things)
Is your office closed? Guessing you have the option to go in and work from there. You should have internet at home anyway and the argument that zoom uses too much is bull. It uses 600k to 1.2 meg. You can do it over a data card with no issues, your standard minimum bandwidth from any provider can support zoom teams, uploads and downloads with no issues.
Not closed but I’m in small agency where we afforded to go remote months prior the pandemic. Argument is I send big files that my boss wants immediately (1+GB, decks, psds, videos, etc.) Also I’m not from the US, which means slow internet for an expensive price.
I have.... a job. Lol
It depends on how much you want to push it, OP... for $100 ? I would rather be compensated enough to afford internet vs an allowance for home internet.
Remember, you didn't ask for this pandemic - but your employer didn't ask for it too.
But I do not know you or your specific situation, so I'll leave it at that.
Yup $100 a month extra

Hahaha no
My bud in finance has been getting no strings $1k/quarter for home office upgrades tho, so it does happen!
Umm, no. They just keep dangling the lucky-to-have-a-job carrot
I don't get this? Surely you would be paying for internet anyway...
We’ve been remote since last year. Boss expects me to send big files (1GB+) quickly. And I raised this issue before but thought of bringing it up to the management for consideration.
Is it just me or are we all saving on commuting so it kind of comes out in the wash?
$30 per paycheck for Internet, $30 per paycheck for cell phone. My manager drove my Aeron from the office to my home and I was allowed to expense a printer after talking to IT
Pro
Ask for it, it’s tax deductible for the company so they shouldn’t care unless they’re jerks
How great for you that you always get to choose who you work for.
We get reimbursed $25 a month for home internet
Should be able to write it off on taxes...I think
But yeah, an internet / WFH stipend would be nice
Yes, $50 at VBP to use toward internet, office supplies, etc.
We got a $100, 1 time bonus, and $250 for any expenses.
Ooh la la!
Update for anyone who’s curious: I’ll get extra moolah to pay for the internet bill. Yay!
Also LinkedIn does... yes I was paying for Internet in lieu of covid-19 but my electric has gone up at least $50 a month since WFH, money they agency pockets. I think we should get a break.
What happened to your commute costs?
Golin does every month.
I feel like it’s kind of a wash. Save on commute and I had internet anyway so... if anything maybe like a $25 stipend would be nice. I use it for personal too so a little crazy to ask them to suddenly start paying for a bill I had anyway (different if you were forced to upgrade or something)
Not if you work at LB...
Yes $50 per paycheck stipend for internet, home office supplies, etc
