Being an introvert doesn’t mean you’re an idiot, it’s largely about how you operate and where you draw energy from. There are several partners, MDs, CEOs and leaders that are introverts. Don’t hold yourself back. Also, being an introvert doesn’t mean you can’t present to large audiences, that you can’t network, that you can’t make friends - you can do all that AND more.
Agree. I know a couple, they also make good mentors once you get beyond the 2 introverts attempting first conversation part
I’m an introvert. I find that I have to make time to be away from everyone to make it work. It is draining sometimes but I just love the intellectual challenge of consulting.
A shockingly high percentage of PMD’s at D are introverts. You wouldn’t know it at first blush though. I don’t know the current stat but I heard a (introvert Principal) say it was close to 50% several years ago
PS: introvert MD here. Been a MD for 10 years

I can’t point to one at my firm. Does anyone have a different experience?
Also, maybe they are but are just faking it.
My partner is definitely an introvert and well respected at the firm. He’s also smart as hell. I think introverts can certainly make partner but I do wonder if the bar is higher.
I know if a number of them but as DSC1 said, some have good speaking skills and you would be surprised that they're introverted.
^^ true that, I wasn’t doubting that. It’s the assumption that being a partner you gotta play the extrovert, outgoing, high energy person who goes above and beyond to make customers happy. And that might be too much for most introverts. Just saying
How do introverts force themselves to do the “cold” networking required to be successful as Partners?
^that’s a good question...
Would most introverts want to be a partner ?
A1 - why not? Being an introvert doesn’t mean one isn’t intelligent, driven to achieve, etc
