Exec flaunting wealth? C Suite exec told people to go buy air pods because they “eliminate background noise.” He said he could hear kids, dog snoring, and spouses (who also WFH) on calls. No expense or reimbursement expected. Took a sensitive HR call while boarding a plane for a weekend vacation, sends texts to team en masse about sailing trips, and constantly takes calls from his “ride” that is a luxury car and talks on team calls about apple product synching features. Says to hourly employees!

I love when people make fun of new money like old money babies aren’t the most sheltered and out of touch bunch on the planet

I mean sure, this person sounds insensitive…but is being able to afford Apple products and black car service really a sign of immense wealth or relative privilege? Is the dude the CEO of a fast food business?

Sounds a lot like taxing the country into prosperity

Weak case of flaunting wealth... but sounds like a dbag

What CEO is talking to hourly employees on a regular basis? How big is this company and what do they do?

It is a small consulting firm. This person came in with a résumé and Specific mandate. That’s what he calls it, his specific mandate. The head of every division turned over in a period of 45 days. Finance, operations, facility security, business development, proposals, marketing, Training, HR, literally every head of every division transitioned. including all delivery vertical heads. Then he had all of the new replacements read a series of business books and have a mandatory book club, and that was six months ago, and now he tells us about his sailing.

And he had to hire back (1099) some of the people that were terminated, because of delivery stress or unable to meet proposal expectations with the new resources he had backfilled the very same people with.

If someone says the make model and year of their car as their introduction of where they are taking the call from, isn’t that flaunting wealth?

nobody says, “hey this is Joe calling from my 2017 Toyota Tercel, navy blue, from the parking lot of Walmart…”

So I had 3 deals scheduled to either close end of May or mid June which were all pushed to end of June/beginning of July. Which is when I have my first vacation planned for over a year (I take 0 time off). My whole family is flying up and we’re renting a cabin near me. What do I do? I’m running one of the deals, semi running the other one and not doing much leading on the other one. Note: I was supposed to not be running any of these. Do I find a back up first or tell the partners first?

What is the advice on what feedback to leave for a peer who really sucks at everything y'all have worked together on? It's about the time where everyone on my team requests feedback from each other and I'm nervous for it coming up. My manager knows that everything I've worked w her on I end up doing 90% of the work when it's meant to be split so it is a known issue. We're both at level 3 so are genuinely peers. She seems like a nice person but i have 0 positive work feedback tbh

I roll my sleeves at work (cuff folded up twice on each arm.) Is there anything overly informal about this? I noticed I do it way more than the people around me but nobody has ever said anything
