Looking for some advice as I am considering relocating to US. How difficult is for HR professionals to get a work visa? I think from what I read I qualify under eb3 (no master yet) or h1b. How do for do about looking for positions that sponsor your visa? I'm in the defense sector and have previously healthcare and financial services experience. Also worked in global matrix organisations with US teams so know the culture quite well. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I have been stuck deciding between two offers (both in IC, but one is more program analysis -similar to consulting work but on the fed side, and actual analysis).

The program analysis offer is at a higher GS level and a more well known agency, but is not what I’m interested in.

Does anyone have any advice on how to make a decision? Go with what I want to do, or go with the more well known agency and higher gs?

Why is it so difficult to make the next career move within your OWN company. I have over 7 years of experience across multiple departments and yet an external company is more willing to give an interview to select roles than your own home company for the same role internally!!

Have an interview with a company I really want to work for tomorrow. My last job I was laid off b/c of an acquisition&recently accepted a job at a diff company b/c I couldnt afford not to. Deloitte Switzerland went bankrupt a few years ago. UK partners bought out the company in order to rescue….of course they establish their own people as they are now the owners. Now we have British partners running the Swiss office. No issues there. But there is an exodus of people leaving to rival firms. Either too much English or they don’t like the new work culture….:( not sure what is not to like about Deloitte though

I am a contractor with a three month rolling contract and have decided not to renew my contract again. Should I give two weeks notice? I already confirmed it would be renewed with my manager before a new opportunity came along that I am very excited about. I had planned on giving 3 weeks notice, that is until two people in my immediate personal circle have said my company will probably just let me go the day I tell them since I am a contractor. M/SM and above, why do you label a meeting as “touch point” or ask if you can have a “quick chat” when it’s something serious? Millennials like us always assume we’re about to get fired - I actually have been laid off in a meeting with that title. But at my new job, my boss asked for a “quick chat” to literally ask me to change the title of a meeting and then chat about christmas. Now that I’m in management, I want to understand it better.

Why does the referrers’ level not matter at McKinsey? Should getting a manager’s referral matter to me or should I go for my friend who has 1 YOE as a BA? I heard that only partner level can actually help you get an interview everything else is almost useless.

I don’t get enough sleep. This causes me to be tired and fall behind on deliverables so I lose less sleep. I’m in a vicious cycle that’s severely effecting my professional trajectory and physical health to the point where I oscillate between anxiety attacks and falling asleep at work. Looking for advice fish fam. Deloitte vs EY-P. Same level - Manager/Director. EY-P pays $50k more for base and maybe $10 to $20k more as bonus. Currently at Deloitte. Is the extra $60-$70k worth giving up my network? Plan to stay in Consulting and hope to make SM/SD. I have a family and my wife is a homemaker. So money does matter. Would have left easily for an $80k bump. Wouldn’t leave for $30k or less. Don’t know what to do with $60k. Pulling my hair out here. HELP Please!!!
