What are your opinions about potential big4 layoffs in m&a tax? Campus hiring starting next year so I don’t have a good idea of what people are thinking at the firm. I know m&a is typically not where you want to be in a recession so I’m curious about job security starting next year. Any insights/opinions would be appreciated. EY PwC Deloitte KPMG
SLC can be tough to integrate, especially for kids, if you aren’t Mormon.
But you could be! Ask me how.
Yes that is a serious proposition and yes you will be asked often.
For several years, they were offering over $25k bonuses + relocation if sr managers re-located there (managers as well, but was a little less). Think it stopped in 2019 and was only BTS though. Take what you will from that.
For service line, M&A is very good about using any resources in the West so your experience probably won’t change.

Goldman Sachs work awaits you...
Deloitte has a small office but specialty with is generally done in a larger office.
Deloitte has international tax in SLC and they were looking for more people last I heard (pre-COVID). I grew up in salt lake (not LDS) and really liked it. I live on the east coast now but felt like people in SLC were much friendlier and more worldly (since many people lived abroad during their mission). The skiing is also amazing and can’t be beat!
Where are you moving from? I don’t love living it in salt lake because the housing is expensive. But if you already in expensive housing, then that might not matter. If you live closer to the city, then the houses are older. If you live farther way, then you deal with traffic(not as bad as some place, but worse then others). I really enjoy my office, I just started in July though.
Yes, some people take the public transportation and others drive. I would assume commutes are probably 30mins -1 hr if they live outside SLC. My husband and I live in salt lake so our commute is between 15-25 mins. I guess the biggest change might be the weather. Assuming you are from the southern part of CA.
