NYT, proud supporter of narratives such as “Stalin wasn’t such a bad Guy”, “WMD in Iraq”, and “Believe all Women Unless the D Candidate Needs a Boost”. Pardon us if some people are skeptical of their motives.

Lol, what’s news do you watch? OAN? Fox?

Speaking of freedom .... it’s Memorial Day. Let’s hope The NY Times won’t forgot to mention those for whom Memorial Day is actually about

Now print out the list of names of people who die from the common flu every year despite there being vaccines. Or deaths from car accidents, or medical errors, or any other “preventable” death if we resorted to draconian measures. Sorry you want to live in a bubble but real life dictates that you accept a certain amount of risk every time you step outside of your house.

You do realize Johns Hopkins and the CDC are mostly aggregating stats based on what’s reported to them? Which is my main point, garbage in, garbage out. And you’re going to throw out other anecdotal evidence because of your own anecdotal evidence? LOL, who’s the dense one?

But I want my hair done and want a burger! /s

Letting hundreds of people lose their jobs for every person that died is not a fair tradeoff IMO.

You mean MILLIONS who have lost their jobs PLUS the uptick in suicide rates.

Zoomed in and still can’t read it.

How do you concentrate on work when personal issues get in the way? My fiancé recently told me that I don’t do anything worth appreciating in the midst of an argument about division of household labor. Although I normally do almost all of the housework and at least half the cooking, I have not done that in the past two weeks as I’ve been prepping for trial. I’m furious of course, but have other things I need to be concentrating on.

In a meeting I said, “creatives can be savages sometime.” because of their unruly behavior towards internal teams, pushing deadlines, or throwing tantrums. I was called out and chastised by a junior creative for using the word “savages” in an unacceptable manner because the word is slur to non-whites in a zoom meeting. I am a BIPOC creative. Am I the asshole?

Something a little more fun that got me thinking - attended a Zoom dinner party with a French guest and an English guest. They asked what typical American dinners are. I didn’t quite know how to answer fairly since I’m from the Midwest, and that answer can be so regional, not to mention cultural! What are the two meals you think of first when you think of your families? Definitely interested in anyone who is not American too!

Are there PhDs here who transitioned to consulting at MBB, EY-P, Altman Solon etc. I am a PhD candidate ( Earth Sciences) at UIUC and have begun seriously considering a career in consulting. I am looking for advice and/or mentorship on: 1. Crafting a consulting resume and cover letter 2. Networking as an advanced degree, how important it is? While I am in touch with some consultants from my academic background, I haven’t looked at the relationship as a potential referral as of yet.

Shameless company plug, sorry y’all. But Morgan Stanley just rolled the FRM Experienced Professionals Program. This program is designed to recruit and develop diverse professionals regardless of whether they have a background in Finance or Risk Management. If you’re interested just dm me. I made it out of kpmg and hopped over to MS and honestly so far I’m loving it. Also more black people in this space would really go a long way.
