My final round with Deloitte for UK Tech Consulting Manager position soon. Strangely it’s not a PMD round as it usually is for other Big4/tech consulting firms.
1. Can anyone tell me if they’ve been through the whole process without speaking to PMD? (First round Sr Manager, second Case Interview by a manager and third again by a manager) 2. What is a typical salary to expect? I was asked in screening but kept it vague (e.g can discuss later bla bla). I was hoping 75-80 (ridiculous?)

Email the head of every practice group in the office you want to work in and attach your credentials. Ask to speak with them about the firm. Do this 500x over the next few days
I know it can be daunting at first, starting your first job out of law school and wondering what the expectations will be regarding your experience. At every place I’ve worked (all in-house positions), the legal department already has templates created and usually a playbook as well. Follow the playbook and be sure to ask questions when you have them - it’s how you learn.
When looking for roles, I suggest creating & saving a search on LinkedIn, using key words like “counsel”, “in-house counsel”, “contracts manager”, etc. You can also save the amount of experience you have, reducing the non-applicable job postings. Also be sure to check “goinhousecounsel.com” for weekly job postings.
Last, check out companies that have known tax & accounting business/services, and check to see if their in-house legal team is hiring. I’m thinking the big 4 (EY, PWC, Deloitte and KPMG), as well as Thomson Reuters, CCH/Wolters Kluwer, BNA, Pearson, etc.
Person is currently hiring some contract managers and they prefer a candidate who has a JD. While it’s not specifically an attorney role, if you have a JD, it’s a great way to learn, as well as move up in the organization.
Good luck!
If you have a tax llm, and you still don't have strong job prospects, I'm not sure where things went wrong, but you need to reevaluate. Just thoughts from a tax llm working in corporate M&A.
Start with your mindset and be open to whatever comes. One foot in front of the other...
I second the emailing people and also start contacting all the recruiters that are in the area you want to work in.
Where did you get your tax llm?
