Getting ready to put in my two weeks, but also have two weeks of vacation (I’ll likely lose), what’s my move?

Check your contract - mine have all been that they pay out what I’ve accrued so far!

like

Whatever vacation you’ve accrued so far this year, they legally have to pay you for it in your last check.

Last I worked in NYC was in 2013 and when I left I was paid out for unused vacation. I don’t believe that has changed. Unless your company had “unlimited PTO” or some scheme where you don’t accrue vacation days/hours.

Also check the contract- the last company I worked for didn't allow me to use any accrued PTO during the final 10 days of employment. They did however pay it to me on my final check.

Hi! By contract, do you mean offer letter? I am soon going to leave my company as well, and I’m stuck between using all my PTO and everyone hating me or leaving some unused money behind. However, if they will pay me out that would be awesome as well!

I would for sure check your contract. In most instances, as others have stated, you should get paid out your accrued PTO. BUT, it could only be for a certain timeframe (ex, just this year) and not include any rollover time from previous periods.
Also check within your contract, but you could potentially make your last day whenever your two-weeks + your vacation time is complete. I know a few people who have done this, albeit it was a very understanding company and the people were leaving on good terms.

I would go to them ands tell them you are putting in two week notice and explain the vacation potion is owed. If you pay out my vacation I’ll fulfill my notice portion. Make sure you get it in writing!! Good luck!

I would check the employee manual and with the state

I have a Q that I worry is going to make me sound like a jerk, but want some opinions. I do strength training 2x/wk with a trainer who was assigned to me at a gym where I bought a pack of sessions. I don’t really consider myself “his” client bc the relationship is managed by the gym… but lately he keeps saying like “I can’t wait to see what my clients give me for Christmas” and I find it super awkward. I pay $150 per session for these workouts (cont’d in comments)…

Had an offer for 30% more , a promotion to manager, extra week of vacation to switch firms. I love where I am at with my clients and there is a lot of potential there. Should I stay the course?

I’m at my step dad’s lake house and it’s in a gated very upper class neighborhood. There was a holiday party last night and it was incredible how much people were gossiping and talking crap about other people at this party. Everyone was very “successful” and wealthy, and it was just so weird seeing all of this drama and gossip from people who seem to have it all.

I have been working in SEA region last 4 years. I feel burned out. I have 10yoe, I have try to move to other country but I pretty much suck in LeetCode. I want to take some time off to unwind, finish some personal business, and really prepare for interviews. I would like to hear from you. Should I quit to my current manager(5th so far) or wait after mid year performance review, when a new boss will take over my team? I'm thinking on giving them 2 months notice period. By contract is 1.

Thanks

Can I use the floating holiday after 9/30 or is it gone?

My wife is in sales at Mercedes and she has been averaging $200k a year and growing YoY. She loves her job, however she works long days and barely gets time off. We plan on having kids within the next year or two, and it’s highly u likely that she’ll be able to keep her current gig. We want to find a career that allows her to work remote or that at least gives her a better work life balance so that she can see her kids grow up. Should she get certifications to give her a shot at adtech?Too late?

Any ideas on how to negotiate a delayed start date? I really want it to be Jan. My mental health needs some time off and this company breezed through interviews to offer in 1 week when I was expecting it to take at least a month. I really need some time to recover from burnout.

Right so here’s a bit of a dilemma I work to a much higher standard at home and it’s this high standard that means I’m in line for a promotion. I’ve grown so much and I feel really strong in my role I’m also busier than ever. The problem is we’re going back into the office and I don’t want to go in if it’s just going to be senior management in asking me to get them lunches for client meetings or fetch a glass of water and cutlery for meeting rooms. Definitely not ready to go back to that….
