Very common. Especially in transaction execution. Both firms are responsible for their remit and have their own stakeholders to report to. You just treat them as another stakeholder.
As with all things- it has everything to do with the teams themselves
How about not in M&A space but in digital / IT / implementation space ?
When I was at D worked with Mckinsey on numerous financial crime work
I've worked on several digital studies where we are developing the overall digital business building strategy and have had many client sub-teams that work with Accenture, Deloitte and other boutique firms. It's never been an issue and most of the time, we are happy to do it because we'd rather see competent people to execute on the plans. It hasn't been a big deal but I imagine if there are problems, you could start to see some finger pointing (by the client) at one or both of the consulting firms.
Yes. It was fine. Different roles on the sane transaction. I was actually pretty close with my peer on the B4 team since we knew each other from before
