Has anyone tried these nootropics like Avantera or Elevate that advertised on IG? Do they work? Ads tout that it can replace Adderall? I’ve been told can’t take any stimulant Rx until I can get my HBP in normal range.
I’ve been on Strattera for about 3 mos and don’t feel it’s working. Still experiencing impulsivity, easily distracted, procrastination, etc and hard to control.
Looking for alternatives.
TIA

Also would like to know the answer. Seems so gimicky but maybe it’s not.

If they actually worked, the companies selling them would make way more money getting it FDA approved and selling it like a normal drug. Marketing a supplement to treat ADHD (or any condition) without FDA approval is illegal, and you should be immediately skeptical of someone willing to break the law to try to get you to buy their stuff.

The placebo effect is powerful, though, so you'll find no shortage of people claiming pretty much anything helped pretty much any condition. But when actually studied, herbal supplements pretty consistently turn out to be no better than placebo. (Not universally, but usually when we do find a useful drug in a plant, we extract it for better dose predictability, and then market it as a drug -- see also opium).

smart

I've taken Aventera (same as Elevate?) and Thesis. No help. Sometimes I drink Early Bird. Might help a little, at least with brain fog, if not full-on focus.

like

I took Elevate for about 6 months. Definitely not the same intensity as adderall where you can really feel dialed. As we know though that comes with side effects. Avantera elevate was a great happy medium for me. Most mornings I'd take elevate and drink a cup of coffee and be in control for most of the day. No jitters. Had an appetite. Was good. I stopped it to go explore other things like mushroom coffee and matcha, but would recommend giving Elevate a shot. Hope my answer isn't too late I saw this while googling lol

like

Nootropics can be effective! But it can take a lot of dialing them in and cycling them because you build tolerance to a lot of them. I've never taken a combo nootropic, just individual ones that I "stack" together after I'm familiar with them.

Saw my therapist this past Friday and he gave me a useful trick to build better behavior patterns. Whenever you have work to do but would rather nap or something, tell yourself 3 negative effects of the nap and 3 positive effects of doing the work. You might still take the nap, but if you can get in the habit of thinking of it negatively, you'll take less naps when you need to be doing other things.

Doesn't matter what the activities are. Could be working out vs eating more, could be socializing IRL vs wasting time in FB (lol)
