So, I just fired my first employee as a manager and I'm heartbroken. He was a great, great person but after 6 months on a PIP he just wasn't cutting it skills-wise. I know he was the provider of the household and his wife didn't have a job since she was raising three young ones. Needless to say, I had to take off because I felt terrible, sick to my stomach. How do you deal with firing guilt? Is that a thing? I can't help but feeling like I did something wrong.

I am trying to figure out how to switch to SWE. I have a masters in civil engineering and have a good background in higher level math. It looks like the better coding boot camps are quite expensive. The alternative is another masters in CS which is the same cost as many boot camps. Any recommendations on picking between a coding boot camp and getting another masters degree in CS? Thoughts on calendar being double booked? What are the etiquettes to be followed. Often people double book and it feels like “ my meeting is more important that whatever you have booked time for in yours”. If both meetings are same urgency/importance - what’s the best approach ?
