Have a 4 round loop interview for Sr. Product Manager at Amazon coming up through the MBA pathways program soon.
If I land it the trajectory of my life and that of my family changes but I'm starting to feel the pressure. I haven't had a lot of traction for job searching since I graduated in December so this is the best lead I have and I'm getting scared now.

What is the cost of attending the school like? Is this for career progression or transition? Target companies / network?
Chicago is nicer, cleaner, and more affordable to live in, but is frigid during the winter.
Nope. I do recruiting for Stern and lead it for my practice. I've also done refuting for Booth, and stern generally has shown stronger finance candidates. Booth has been strong for others. Location does play a role too. On the flip side, Columbia is not strong for finance (despite being in NYC), so it's not all based on location. It's also the program itself.
Booth >>>>>>>>>>>> Stern
I did not. But I can count the number of stern people at mck on one hand and the number of booth people is bigger by a factor of 100
Chicago. Way cheaper to live in so it's less debt plus it's a better school. It's only two years, you can survive the winters lol
Booth.
Will pwc allow you to move?
SC1- yeah those are good points. Booth is way better with flexibility with classes since I can take classes on weeknights too whenever I'm local. Stern is not flexible at all and doesn't allow weekend students to take classes on weeknights and vice versa. Also, Booth offers the same classes on weeknights and weekends. Change industries-- not immediately, but definitely later, and it is possible through the part time program, just a little tougher, unless you want to do something "completely" different.
Stern for finance. Else Booth.
I actually did the Stern part time program so let me give you some insight. It's true that weekend students can't do weeknight classes but that's only for the first semester or year. Contact them to double check but it's definitely not for the entire time. Secondly, Stern is the place to go if you want to do finance/banking due to location and their reputation for that type of work. I actually changed industries after the part time program and it was from the help of Stern's career center. They actually have a recruiting program specifically for part time students when it's your last year in the program. Unfortunately I don't know much about Booth but I've heard they are better for strategy consulting.
@OP -- if you're not in finance and / or looking to move to finance; I'd say do Booth. It'll be a good change of pace, chicago is way better for Cost of living (save some $$ while in school); and all the same firms go to Booth, as they would to Stern (minus some finance specific institutions). Of course, if you have a social circle and all that in NYC, factor that in too.
@P2 -- if that's the case, you'd be better at Stern. It'll allow you to network with Financial instructions here in NYC. If you're thinking more on the consulting route, then Booth could work as well. In the latter, you could always move back to NYC. It'll come down to yours gut feeling. Sometimes, one of the school just clicks better. I wouldn't have anyone of us here dissuade you.
@OP there's a separate career center for full timers vs part timers. The career center for part timers is CCWP (Career center for working professionals) but I think in the end, although we go through a different career center and different process, we end up going for the same positions as full timers. So basically two separate career centers but going for same position. I will say the advantage full timers have is that they probably interned with the employer during the previous summer. Don't ask why they have two separate career centers. I have no idea lol
Thanks so much guys for your thoughts! I have decided on Booth! :)
Congratulations... and good luck!
Since it's part time either school will work. Full time program would be different considerations.
Haha thanks EY1.. SC1- cost of attending school is the same, but the net cost would be lesser at Booth I guess 'coz of the cheaper living cost in Chicago. Target industries-- Banking/FinTech.
P1- yes
Also depends where you travel most for work and whether NYC or Chicago would be closer. Also look at the part time class offerings. One might have better courses on week nights vs weekends, which will make a difference if you're traveling for work. Are you looking to change industries through a part time program?
Isn't it hard to change industry if you're part time though?
