How to overcome a breakup. I'm heartbroken 😭

First time Dad and my 15 month old keeps running up the stairs at my in-laws place and they keep encouraging it. Stairs are almost 10 inches high with nothing underneath and I’m worried that he might slip and fall in between the stairs. My FIL is a bit of a know-it-all and keeps insisting it’s safe and I don’t agree. What do I do? Don’t want to fight the entire house full of people about this and kid enjoys it too much and cries a lot if I/we prevent him from climbing

Today shit blew up so much on my two gigs all I could hear for hours was the constant barrage of pinging noises from outlook, gmail, slack and teams. Like some kind of hellish tech sounding symphony. I will probably go to sleep tonight with pings, clicks, chimes and whooshes echoing in my head into the void. Seriously y’all how do we not lose our fucking minds?

🎃 What remote teambuilding/social committee events has your office done since COVID?

Looking for ideas to replace the drinks or office goodies we normally give out (Halloween, Christmas, July 4, Valentines etc., plus random “fun stuff”) – we’ve done a few virtual happy hours but obviously everyone has had more than enough of Zoom at this stage! Looking for advice or thoughts. I've been married for about 4-1/2 years, a consistent issue in our marriage is that I either work too much or I'm not available enough. I work in a sales office, 8-5 M-F. Various issues arising at home have required my attention 30+ times in the last 12 months. I have worked from home most of those occasions. We have a real emergency now but my GM says I am pushing the limits. I actually agree with him, but it's causing problems at home. Thoughts?

Is it okay to disappear from friends & family to work on career change goals (several months)? I want to focus and not get distracted by friends & family needs to see me or attend certain things as it takes up a lot of time. If I focus for a short time, I can quickly achieve my goals to switch. I can hangout with them after all of that. What do you think?? Any feedback will be appreciated.

Comforting others:
When someone tells me bad news regarding their health, I say everything I am supposed to say (I’m sorry to hear that, I’m here for you, etc) EXCEPT “everything is going to be ok”. Because I can’t guarantee that and I really don’t know if everything is going to be ok. I was taken aback recently when a friend told me I am calloused and cold-hearted for not being able to say those words. Is she right? Should I start saying this for the purposes of providing comfort only??

Anyone else struggling with hormones / mood swings? I am almost 16 weeks and been having a real tough time lately, feeling really down and stressed about things. Sadly, causing tension between me and my partner as well as he cannot relate and seems preoccupied with business as usual. Trying to get out the funk and just telling myself it’s all the hormones.
