How did it go?
Bain & Company Bain & Company Do you have any insights into what they are expecting in the second (last) round? I saw that there are two cases and a presentation. Are they more interested in professionalism than the "analytical" skills assessed in the first round? Do you have any more insights into the presentation?
Many thanks in advance

I believe in this case it was actually a practice leadership role she had prior to taking leave, which was taken away from her. That’s a lot different than just not being staffed on the same engagement.
This is...the same article.
This is all spelled out in the agreements you sign to get the leave in the first place. Dad here, took all 16 weeks, outstanding benefit. I have the same conversations with team members taking long pto. Absolutely use your benefit, but you cannot expect the team to carry extra load while you’re out. If there’s a need, we will backfill you’re and wish you well while you enjoy your time. I see it all the time here on fb: “I can’t take my pto! Well actually I can but they won’t hold the role for 3 weeks...”
For the record, I literally did this last year - got a call in June for a temporary practice lead role from
July until December, while the current practice lead left for maternity leave. We had a clear plan for her to return to her position, the one that I had been doing for the past five months, from day one.
It was fun, I learned a hell of a lot, and it catapulted me into a new role.
I would think that the timing is important here. She came back, and was given a job - being a Manager at Deloitte. She wasn't staffed on a project. As with any other manager in consulting, it is incumbent upon us to find roles. It sounds like she then spent another six months on the bench at a time when (importantly) COVID hit and employee performance was scrutinized to determine where cuts should be made.
It is likely that the timing of her complaint and the timing of her termination were coincidental. Certainly possible it wasn't, but again, think about June 2020 and what happened at Deloitte at that time.
I'm opposed to any sort of discrimination but this one doesn't sound too credible to me.
D1: just stop with your bs reasoning. I was part of D till 2018 and know exactly how toxic leadership and HR is. Incumbent on us to find roles? seriously? it’s a maternity leave and if we are to find roles with returning from leave what the hell will the resource manager and HR will do?

How did 16 weeks become 6 months, after she initially planned to take 12?
6 months is normal at D. It’s a perk offered that many take. Nothing wrong with that.
