Hello 🐠

I'd like to open a high yield savings account (Location - USA)

1) Any recommendations?? Thinking of either ally or SoFI
2) Is it better to open a joint account with S/O or open two separate accounts with different providers?

Thanks in advance

Thank you

I like Ally for their bucket feature and it helped me save better when I knew what to save for. But I also like wealthfront’s UI better and they also had buckets so I switched some of my savings to over there and left my sinking funds in Ally.

like

Thank you. I'm thinking of Ally as well

I think Robinhood is good if you already trade on in it. They have a 5% offer

Okay thank you. I'll look into it

like

I like Marcus and SoFi personally. Easy to use & good rates. I’ve heard good things about Ally, but their rate was lower when I last checked.

Check out raisin. They have a tonnn of banks and their APY that you can pick from. In addition if you choose to open multiple accounts, you can manage them all from the raisin account.

I am doing a back door Roth IRA through Vanguard and while everything makes sense to me, I am unsure if an additional $6000 be invested for a non working spouse. We satisfy the criteria but two questions - 1) Is this still valid I.e., $12k can be invested for 2021? And 2) Any insight into how this is done - Vanguard doesn’t let me add more than $6k as it’s above the individual limit. I tried searching the bowl for specific answers but wasn’t successful. Inputs appreciated.

NYC office: NYC tax on paycheck, easier commute, possibly higher pay?

How does your company manages HR or team building activities in WFH model ? is it effective in refreshing you or team culture ? Or is it just an extra overhead now ?

I feel it was a good break/refresh when at office but now it really feels just an extra overhead siting on desk pretending to have fun when you can ACTUALLY have rest/fun by just taking break for that time and instead interact with people around yourself AT Home. Feels more refreshing.

Since there is no proper documentation still manager is forcing to complete it by next week end. Under contract for nearly 1.1M. Wife and I are at HHI $315k. Will go up in the future, $400k in 3 years and $500k possible in 5-7 years. We have $300k in non-retirement funds, $260k of which will go towards acquiring the house. We have 2 kids and will probably reduce (not maxing) retirement accounts next 18 months to do this. Anyone have any thoughts or feedback? We’ll have to live on a budget and watch but I feel we’ll get used to it and income will grow.
