Hi Case Manager, as a HR professional I would recommend you search out HR in nonprofits; as your talent may be enough to get you onboarded in HR in an entry level role and grow from there. I to worked case management for 5 years prior to starting my HR career journey. Hope this helps!

You need a lot more than helping with training and payroll. HR professionals need to know employment law, if nothing else. I suggest you get an HR education -- if you're in the Philly area, Villanova has a highly respected program, although it's expensive. Penn State Abington does, too.
Good luck! I hope you get into the profession!

I don't, but the suggestion to look at smaller non-profits is a good one. I was head of HR at one, and my staff that I inherited had no HR background either. One left to follow my predecessor (and it was a disaster for her), and the person I hired was fresh out of getting her degree in HR, but didn't have experience. The other just grew into being my HR Coordinator (generalist, really), and now she has a senior role in a bank in Benefits.
I think you already have a good base. I would highlight your exposure to HR tasks and look for entry level HR roles to build from there.
Don't transition into HR, why not stay as a Case Manager? There are way too many people in the HR field, do not need more people fighting for the few jobs. Must be a nightmare in a city like Philadelphia, Get hundreds of applications for a single post.
