How difficult is it to get into asset management, buyside mutual funds/ insurance firms ?

I am a Quantitative researcher ,PhD Statistics ( currently on sabbatical) and I love watching Bloomberg tv for hours,I genuinely find it interesting. Also did my CFA FMVA so have a good hands on Financial modeling and valuation skills.

What could be a gateway role into asset management ? Appreciate any guidance!

I’m looking for suggestions/tips on where to start with a business idea. For years I’ve been wanting to open my own business (store front). I’m currently attending part time school and have a great full time job with excellent pay; however, as of two weeks ago, I had this feeling that I needed to go after my dream. I impulsively spent $400 on concert tickets before I left my last job. Now I’m entering my third month at a new job and I’m worried it’s too early to take off to go. At the very least I would have to sign off an hour or two early to be able to make it on time. But I feel awkward asking because generally I wouldn’t take off this early. For context, I have unlimited PTO.

It's sad to see people with 2-3 years of experience getting paid more than you when u have double the experience. 😄 Best part is they are still complaining of getting less. Well I guess you should never settle. New gen is giving a hard time to the experienced folks. I think this is the high time to upgrade your skills. Come out of your comfort zone and start looking for new opportunities. I think this is the best time to switch if u haven't already in quite some time.
