I’ve worked at AT&T as a sales consultant for 6 years and 8 months where we prospect, uncover, and close on leads. I’ve used Salesforce for the past 4 years during my tenure. I’ve done B2B sales where I’ve received awards for it for 2 years consecutively. Loads of troubleshooting, uncovering needs through consultative styled selling, and tech app subscriptions.
I was wondering if I have the necessary skills to transition into a tech sales role. If so, what would be the best role/fit for me?Amazon Salesforce Google @

Got a random email from a supposed Amazon recruiter for a SDE position (which is not at all a fit). The email is amazon.com domain and there are no red flags in the body but it doesn't feel like an Amazon recruiter due to the tacky signature, etc. Has anyone seen this kind of cold-calling from FAANG recruiter?

Personally, I loved it when working with the right people and absolutely hated it with the wrong ones. l enjoyed working at the smaller boutique shop, more personable.
Consulting teaches you to think/adapt quickly and strategically which will put you ahead of ppl who only worked industry. I can’t remember but I think it’s like for every 1yr in Consulting, it’s 2-3yrs from industry in acceleration of growth/stress-this stat isn’t mine.
Empower you to learn what you don’t like from the role, so it can better guide you to your next one. Best of luck!
Everyone has their reasons and in all honesty I think fishbowl puts a lot of unnecessary pressure to find an exit from consulting. Prior to leaving I actually enjoyed it, the change of projects, the comp, new teams and new clients kept things fun.
I’d say spend some time doing some serious exploration about things you’d want to explore. Pretty much every subject area (cars, tech, fashion etc) has an applicable job whether it’s HR, management, sales etc.
It’s also worth mentioning that a lot of firms have professional services arms, so if you do like consulting but want to pump the brakes a little you can explore that route. Our proserv org in cloud is basically strategy and implement consulting.

No problem to explore and boomerang back if you want
Informational interviews.
Message 10 ppl a day on LI and schedule 2/3 info interviews per week for 4 weeks. They can be in a sector of your interest or multiple sectors to explore. Be transparent about what you are trying to get out of it. Go in with good questions (google can help) and don’t waste anyone’s time, but otherwise people will be happy to talk to you about what they do and share their experience to give you more datapoints to make the right decision.
