Get time on their schedule and ask or have a one-on-one. Be forward.
Keep it calm and friendly. Make it all about being included and hearing feedback directly vs being left out and feeling slighted.
Pro
Don't ask why you're being left out.
Ask if you can be included.
And if they use the "so you can work on other stuff" line, counter with "I can make the time"
Or... When I was more, I talked my way into a few meetings with the rationale "it's better if I hear the feedback first hand vs second or third after the meeting"
Pro
And for you to ask clarifying questions to the client

There’s probably a good reason (client asked for a small team on the call) but you should definitely ask. I usually try and explain to a team why they aren’t presenting their own work and when they say they wish they could do it, I completely get it. I’d say something
It was for an internal review.
Maybe you have other work to be finished and the client preso is with clients that are closer to their level.
Today, that’s not really the case. Otherwise, I would have understood.
Tell them that more experience with presenting is important to your career growth, and you’ll happily make the time to get everything done. If they still say no, it could be that the client demands fewer faces in the room, or that your CD is insecure and wants all the face time.
Thank you, that’s nice to hear!
Maybe don’t ask so much as tell. “I’d appreciate the opportunity to present my ideas myself because I feel passionate about X and you can leverage that energy to make this creative successful.” And tbh it’s also part of your career growth. “I love presenting and want to ensure I keep that skill set honed, any reason you don’t think that’s a good idea?”
Wish I’d read yours and ECD1’s comment before I spoke with CD. This is a good point that I didn’t make!

Sounds like a straightforward enough question. I find too many people walk on eggshells around superiors. You'll typically be treated how you act, so be upfront about whatever it is.
Exactly how I feel. But still walking on eggshells over how I ask.
Not super helpful, but there can sometimes be internal politics at play or an internal desire to keep meetings small. That’s just to say it may not even be entirely on your CD.
She alluded to something internal and made it clear that I can expect to be out of future meetings too
Update: spoke to CD. Was told it’s not personal. Something to do with restructuring. I have no choice but to accept this. Was told I can expect to be left out of future meetings too. Thanks to everyone who took the time to reply here. Appreciate it. 😊
Maybe time to start looking then!
sometimes i have my teams skip the internals mainly because i don’t want them to have to sit through 100 stupid questions about their work that i am gonna ignore half the time anyways. better that they stay focused while i deal with the peanut gallery 🤷🏻♀️ but i try to make opportunities for them to present when I know they will get something out of it.
