Amaze-balls is the technical term
But not in all models
Excellent parental leave and PTO but weak 401k match. Deloitte justifies it by giving you a pension but the pay out is not great unless you stay at the firm for a long time
Well the average turnover for a consultant is what...like two years. I'm sure that goes into the vesting calculation. The 401K is definitely weak as is the pension. I get trying to use it as a retention tool but that's a shady way to operate.
Benefits consultant here. Deloitte’s offering is a solid. No complaints. We’re paid well, get a free pension, and my insurance covers pretty much everything with a decent copay. A lot better than some lower tier professional service firms I spent time at..
Do you get to choose your investments with that cash balance plan or do they just guarantee a certain return on what the firm contributes?
Capco — I think ours is great. Really great 401k, good dental/vision, ok medical (a little pricey), and I think PTO is pretty good (better than what I had in past industry job). Unlimited sick days and flexible WFH!
Editing to add that I am a newer employee and younger, so not able to speak to parental leave.
Agree; the benefits are pretty good, especially the availability of a co-pay plan, in addition to the High Deductible plans which the Healthcare industry is pushing on all Americans. Good training budget per person per year too.
PwC’s maternity leave is only 8 weeks!!!
That’s not true Capgemini. I have a friend there who recently had a baby and got 12 weeks of full pay
Also a note that Parental Leave for men is not a relevant benefit since most 'dads' dont take more than a week else its looked down
Currently on week 2 of 4 I'm taking (gotta take more than 2 since we have a toddler at home all the time due to COVID). Would gladly take as much as given, but we only get 2 weeks paid, and I don't much feel like taking more than 2 weeks unpaid.
Love our health insurance. My wife has MS and our insurance covers everything. Also able to get days off whenever I need for doctors appointments. Will never leave Deloitte based on that.
Agreed with you on health insurance, miss those good old days
-401k is a historically a 15-16% profit match. Industry best.
-Parental leave is 14 weeks paid for birthing parent and 8 weeks paid for non-birthing parent. This was a very positive change made last year.
-Health insurance is currently with Cigna. We have a $0 premium plan as well as traditional PPO and high deductible plans to choose. I’d say better than average HI benefits.
-20 days per year for PTO. Relatively standard.
Feel very good overall for RB:
>Medical: ~100/mo and deductible reimbursed
>401k: 3% auto deposit - no matching contribution required
>Vacation: 25 days
>Pet insurance
>$1000 wellness budget per year
>Maternity -unsure but I’d guess around 3-4 months based on what I’ve seen
>Personal card option for all expenses except flights
Pwc’s benefits are pretty good in my opinion, with the sole exception of our terrible health insurance.
401k marching + wealth builder (pension) puts our retirement benefits at or above market.
8 weeks of paternity leave.
15-22 days of PTO (which is better than unlimited PTO in my opinion because you actually get to cash it out when you quit)
Unlimited sick days
$1000 of no-questions-asked emergency childcare reimbursement (!!!!)
For the PwC people shitting on our benefits, I’d honestly love to know what you are looking for. Objectively speaking, our benefits are well above market
I would like to pay $250 per pay period and have full coverage. Period. Or have all employees take a full genome rest and spread out cost
I can't speak to parental leave. Military leave is good, but could be better. The rest is not bad, but not amazeballs either
The 401k match at EY is so bad. Yeah we have a pension, but it doesn’t vest for 5 years or some BS like that
Well we have
- unlimited pro
- 6% match to 401k with accelerated vesting which I am used to coming from industry
- health insurance is pretty good (ie. my previous employer one of my meds were $100 a month. At Huron $10. Big savings
-
Yeah, I'm very happy too
Some may vary based on career level, segment, and tenure, but as a Client & Market or Corporate Function Manager, I get:
401k match up to 6%
27 days PTO plus 10 government holidays
15% employee stock discount
16 weeks maternity leave (and still accrue PTO while on mat leave)
Health, dental, and vision insurance is decent. You get a free fitness tracker or device when you first register and you can accrue points for tracking health stats that you can trade on for gift cards or other items
Military leave and support as well as military spouse support is strong
I think benefits at Booz Allen are just fine and in some cases exceed industry averages. 401(k) match of 100% up to 6% of your salary is not the glory days it once was but is much better than other companies. Healthcare seems to be about the same when compared to other industry large firms but I think it’s useful to compare to other businesses that don’t have the number of employees. In other words, working for a large consulting business likely means we have much better health care and at better rates than many other white-collar professionals. Paid time off is not counted against your billability percentage which is good. The firm keeps adding new tuition benefits and supports a number of internal cyber and data analytics certifications and training experiences. Yes, things have to change and evolve such as the firm no longer paying for the administrative fees associated with our 401(k)s, but who really cares? I think people need to look at the benefits package holistically.
M3, frankly I think we are talking strictly the administrative fees not the fees for fund management. Charge me $100 in fees to match my 6% contribution all day long
I remember living in Canada when navigating health insurance didn’t give me an aneurism. Not sure the trade was worth it.
Really gd
Probably different regions :)
Unlimited leaves - can be a good thing if you utilize it well
Paternity/maternity- average
401k - average
It’s not so great when you leave and don’t have any pto to bank out with
Health plan is terrible. Pto is great. Parental leave is A+
Flexible PTO is awesome
401k- pretty solid
Stock plan- solid
Health plan- okay
What is Deloitte parental leave?
16 weeks paid - that’s mom or dad. Birth mom also gets 5 weeks short term disability fully paid, 7 if c section. So a birth mom can get 21-23 weeks paid and then use our generous PTO on top of that. I’ve had 3 kids and I don’t know any other moms who have had it that good. Making it work in consulting after you return is another story but it’s a generous leave package.
Meh at best
401k match is 3%
Healthcare is cigna or hsa. Cigna plan is at least the best they have.
Lousy coverage though.
Paternity i think is 3 weeks, maternity is 8 weeks (not sure).
I do get phone paid for and a travel stipend of 125 bucks a month.
I’ve never heard of this travel stipend - what is it?
Phone getting pod for is a $65 cap
