It's brutal. I'm driving a minivan, fearful of fights in public and trying to feed the kids in places without fast food, still have to track a diaper bag, multiple drop offs and pickups with more variation in sports activities taking up week nights and weekends, extra birthday parties every weekend, cost of holidays goes up, budgeting extra for private schools for longer and a bigger house. More stress, less sleep, less personal time. Wife and I both somehow maintain fairly decent jobs as we head into our forties but the balance is very challenging.
I feel you bro! its the minivan life here..At least I got a good deal on a pacifica hybrid limited... with all the bells and whiatels.. Because my commutes are shirt, I barely buy gas because I can recharge at home... For me, I'd still be ok with all the back and forth with my 5, but it's the petty bickering and fights that's just kill.me.. all the effing damn time !!! Loving one moment, thug life the next... and we get to do it all over, again and again.... dont even ask me about the food bill 🤣🤣
Wild.
I have 3 boys. 7, 4 and 1.5. It's wild...and super fun.
I have 4
The early years are hard. Chaos. Complete chaos.
Once they are 5 or so it’s super fun.
Have 3 now - 4,2,1 it’s fun, definitely requires a lot of attention which takes away from doing other things (like work). But totally manageable.
My wife and I have talked about another, but it’s just be such a step back in terms of quality of life where we are now. We see the first year as the hardest - with the first couple of months just being such a slog, especially with other kids to take care of.
I have 5.. enjoy
Me too!
It’s the best. Mine are 16, 14, 11. Gets more fun as they get older and start becoming little adults.
Would not change it for anything - have 3 daughters 12, 14 and 17. My wife is super successful in cyber and we have moved across the globe with them. We had kids early (had s as 3 by 31) so a much harder task. The timing of 3rd relative to second was a massive pressure on us. I moved into industry for 5 years to spend more time with kids (when they were all 6 and under) and returned to consulting with them all in an excellent school.
My 10 yo is doing travel softball now. Coach says in the spring and summer we can expect 3 tournaments a month, ‘so the girls get some time off’ and the spring ones are ‘shorter, just Friday-Sat-Sun, but in summer they start on Wed.’
That is one kid. I have 2 others.
So much for having a life.
It’s great. The house is always full with the kids and their friends. They play a lot and keep each other company.
