My goal is $2M at 65. I'm 8 years away so hoping the stock market keeps growing LOL
I do believe $2mil is the minimum for me. I’m 21 years from retirement. If inflation keeps its pace, I’ll need $10M which means I may never retire.
The standard formula is (expenses / withdrawal rate) x inflation raised to however many years you have until retirement.
Assume your annual expenses are 100K, withdraw rate is 4%, inflation is 3%, and you are 10 years from retirement:
((100,000 / .04) x 1.03v10) = $3.36M
Interesting math. With longer life expectancies, I wonder if that will be enough.
