Advice needed on handing in notice, I recently signed an offer letter and understand the screening process takes 4-6 weeks. I have a month's notice period and have agreed a preliminary start date in Feb.

I was planning on not handing my notice in until the checks had been completed so its all secured (not that I think I will fail any checks), but apparently I need a reference from my current employer not previous ones. Can't really do this without handing in notice can I?

Thinking of switching employers. Do you think bigger retail stores (the ones that have several locations) are easier or harder to work at than little hole-in-the-wall grocery stores (which is all I've ever done)? Im starting a new job but still employed somewhere else. I was trying to be open about staying at BOTH places. My current job won’t let me be part time because they don’t allow “set schedules”. Yet I am one of the only reliable and loyal employees in the department, and currently working a set schedule. So why will they not let me continue a set schedule but with different hours? This place is more focused on strict policies and not actually trying to work their employees and being flexible.

I am ready to transition my Salesmen to a base salary with commission to incentivize new hires & reward my long term guys. My industry is aftermarket auto parts. I am leaning towards a 2% commission but am flexible and just need help in figuring out salaries.
