it’s extremely normal to take some time off right before and a day here and there in the weeks before. if it’s unlimited do what you’ll be allowed there’s no reason not to. your personal life is always more important than your job
I got married on a Friday and took the whole week off (granted I had to fly to a destination wedding so that took one whole day).but I wanted a few days of peace leading up to the event and time / space to figure out any last minute details if need be. Similar to you, I was working long hours and didn’t have any family help. Would def recommend.
I also took two weeks total. One week before for planning and one week after for relax/decompress mini moon. Both were necessary I would say, you don’t want to be working on Monday after your wedding! But to your question at least one week before was a must. I had everything ready and between beauty appointments (nails, etc), last minute details, seeing friends and family (I had a destination wedding), final fittings, etc it was much needed
Definitely take off a few days in advance. I took a total of about 2 weeks. 4-5 days before the wedding and a little over a week for honeymoon and a rest day when I get back.
Take time off leading up to that as well if you have appointments or other loose ends to deal with.
Take as much time as you need. If I had intense projects, I would have taken time off before.
I got married on 9/10. Worked up until 9/8. Took a few days off here and there prior to that though.
