Interviewed with EY earlier this year and received an offer - crafted my story around how at PwC/S& I've been pigeonholed in one industry doing the same type of projects for years and that I was interested in a xSector practice
Did you both get laid off?
I don't even think what you mentioned on this post is bad. Say your practice area is getting hit hard and at pwc you cannot be allocated to other areas intercompany and want to explore x function work easier. (Hate that about pwc btw. I've done like 4 same projects same industry in a year and want to scream.)
Seen people let go and got a much better jobs ...industry knows that big 4 over-hires from time to time
How do I answer the dreaded, "why do you want to leave PwC"? or "are you currently working?". I don't want to be blacklisted because I got caught in the middle and branded a low performer
Recruiters understand that layoffs happen. They're opportunities to get talent at discount prices.
Focus on what the other firm offers that differentiates it from PDubs.
S1- so not being employed never came up?
P2- nope. I'm in a different competency. Still employed (for now lol)
What level ? And have you just let go ?
Associate (PwC's first level).
I'm the husband to the OP of the post a few days back. We're looking for jobs now (Fishbowl has been great with offering their support) but we are just looking for how to craft the story now.
No, they knew I was employed at PwC and were perfectly fine with it. Interviewed with KPMG's strategy practice a few years back as well and they knew
Recruiters are very capable of checking LinkedIn 😉
I think it's very important to realize here that getting laid off is not an indicator of your performance in any way. So it's hard to imagine you'd get "blacklisted" by any potential recruiters. Be honest, maybe even come up with some learnings of what not to do in this business model, and make sure to point out your own performance. Over the years, I've downloaded and kept a record of my performance reviews
