Wut...I would tell my sister nope
That's on you for setting that precedent.
Say "no"
As long as she reimburses you at a competitive rate that is a win-win for both
OP your first world problems are not entertaining. Go whine somewhere else
P3, I just responded with this -> 🤦♂️
BA1, pretty sure this is one of the most appropriate forums for first world problems. Take your imposter syndrome and go whine somewhere else
lol I'd just respond with wtf no you make twice as much as I do.
Yea just say sure what's the ticket rate ok that and give her a 5% discount
P1, excuse me? Setting that precedent? No. Also, what in my original post or comment with context gives you the idea that you could make such an assumption? I've never set any such precedent with any family member. Have I paid to upgrade my parents to first class (with dollars, not miles) on tickets they've paid for coming to see me)? Yep. That's a FAR CRY from buying an international round trip ticket for someone.
Lol yeah I just ignore my sister when she makes foolish requests like this. Works well.
D2, it's not an "issue," I shut her down as soon as she asked, I was just disclosing a pet peeve of mine, not asking for advice. I'm just irate that she'd even have the gall to ask me to use my miles to buy her an international round trip ticket, (and, further, not even have the decency to offer to pay for the miles) when she makes twice what I do.
There's a difference between "omg got upgraded for the first time" and "my sister that makes 300k wants me to buy her ticket to Europe"
BA1... I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that self-awareness is not your strong suit.
Tell her: oh you make a lot of money - can you buy me the new car i really want?
Context: Sister asked me to buy her plane ticket from the States to Greece (round trip). She cleared over $300k at her job last year, which is WAY more than I see as a Manager at PwC.
M1, P2, the way it was asked, there was not any sort of reimbursement suggested. It was just a "you have a lot of miles, can you just buy my ticket so I can go to Greece with my friend and her family?"
No "I'll pay you for them," or anything of that sort.
OP good for you! You're gonna help her put that 300K to use 😀
I'd just charge her the transfer value, a penny per mile or so
Nothing wrong with saying no; don't see why this is even an issue
