Being laid off isn’t a good look
Laid off isn't a bad look. I was laid off 5 years ago due to downsizing....I was told 3 months before my last day so I had time to find a job. I told all respective employers I was looking for a new job because of the lay off. I got hired to Deloitte as a manager... They said my old employer's loss was their gain.
Getting fired is a bad look.

Much easier to get a job when you have a job
There are multiple factors. A college degree does not guarantee a job, let alone a well-paying job, partially because so many of us have them now and it’s become a baseline requirement rather than a quality that elevates the candidate. People who have taken the time to get a college degree are generally not just looking for just any available job, so there’s increased competition for certain types of jobs/roles. People who got non-technical degrees that don’t amount to tangible work skills (e.g., psychology, English) are unable to find work and end up looking at jobs that prefer candidates with skilled degrees (e.g., computer science). Furthermore, some people have trouble finding a job due to not having a strong resume, not interviewing well, etc. Add in the fact that many workers want to continue WFH and companies are pushing back on that, and you’ve got a big disconnect between employers and the work force
I have one question, when one is laid off, as they are finding new job. Do they tell they got laid off? Or say I am changing job and some lie? Is there a validation to prove they got laid off?
Oh I see! Thanks for sharing the experience, yeah I see personally it’s hard.
OP... An open role doesn't mean the right fit. I've seen hundreds of open roles, but none that I would take, even if I didn't have a job right now. Also, a college education in the US is more common than it used to be, and a degree does not guarantee a good job.
Also, taking a job comes with expenses...drycleaning, commuting costs, childcare, time away from home, etc. After doing the math (taxes, withholding, gas, car, insurance) are you better off with the job or being unemployed? Having a baby in full time daycare can cost upwards of $20k per year... Have 2 children in daycare? You do the math...
A lot more goes into it, this is a sweeping generalization. Not going to call you privileged but a little empathy would be nice

From LinkedIn reach out to first day, the process typically takes at least 3 months.: Time to schedule interviews, 2 to 5 rounds of interviews staggered sometimes by weeks, time to prepare the offer, time for candidate to accept, time until start.
Nobody ever reached out to me on LinkedIn until I was a consultant
