I have been interviewed and selected for a role in EY UK. The status of my job application is “congratulations on receiving an offer from EY”.
However I have not received any email yet.
Can someone confirm which team sends the final offer coz the HR is saying that he has processed everything from his side.??EY
I was interviewed at EY UK on 7th Sep. It was quite smooth. Since then I haven't heard anything back from them though interviewer claimed SLA to get back with outcome of interview is 48 hours. On portal it still says I'm in hiring team phase. It was level 1 interview.
Should I take this delay as rejection?

Hi there, I’m working in the UK and agree with D2’s comments.
The hiring has been put on hold for a lot of roles from similar firms on the back of economic uncertainty and layoffs (a quick google search will show that there have been layoffs in all big4s, Deloitte being the latest of the lot)
A few pointers from my side -
1) Check that the roles you apply have visa sponsorship mentioned
2) Go on LinkedIn of people who work in the team/ line you want to join to see what their workex and education experience has been to see any patterns you can spot and add to your resume before applying further
3) Ask for referrals rather than applying outright
4) Make sure meeting their requirements - having a niche will definitely be helpful so highlight that in your application
5) They are obliged to advertise the opening to their local residents and only hire from outside of the local applicants do not meet the requirements - this is one point I think a lot of people miss. Without this the firms would be able to hire over-qualified people from abroad with ease which would put local applicants at a high risk
6) Try and work with the UK counterparts so that they know what your work quality is like - without this, whatever your qualifications are it will be difficult to ascertain you as a team player
Rejections should not make you feel depressed but without understanding the reason for rejections and changing your applications accordingly will likely not yield a different result.
Just keep in mind that you’re competing with the locals (experienced and freshers) and students who have completed education who will have a higher preference in the picking order.
Plus it is not the greatest of times to be looking for roles in the UK in general.
Internally movements are not encouraged nowadays, you have to apply to other big4. 3 years experience is too low due to high cost in UK, apply for a manager role.
Also my friend applied to 600+ jobs and landed in UK, try EY.

Hi,
Currently the job market in UK is very bad.
In 2021 and early 2022 lot of people moved to UK especially from DUSI as hiring was very strong. But in 2023, hiring is ON HOLD.
Very specific hiring might take place but rest of the job id's in career portal of respective MNC's is on hold.
Till when this will continue as per your knowledge?

I don’t think it is easy to get a job offer easily from India to UK. It was still fine until 2023. Now even internal movements are being discouraged by all orgs. Also, UK has lost it charm as the salaries are not at all good. I mean, 75k to 85k is not much to live in a city like london with a family. You’ll eventually have to move 45 minutes out of the city to enjoy life on such a salary figure with a family. When the same role in India can get you 50k salary (50lpa, for the sake of easy conversion). All big4 easily offer fixed 40lpa and can go upto 60lpa based on role and title. And the same role in UK will still get around 85k!!
