The new company I’m at now sent me an email from an email address that was HR@companyName.careers saying I was accepted for the position. They gave me paperwork to fill out and sign to accept the position
I fill out the paperwork and send it back to them and it goes through… then a few days later I go back to the email to say something else and I get this…?
Then today I got a check from the company In the mail to setup my home office, and it’s signed by someone I’ve never met before or heard of…?
What…..

Is it a good time to switch jobs

Focus on improving your financial modeling abilities to help the transition go more smoothly; in the corporate growth space, they are vital. Explore market analysis and valuation methods as well to strengthen your analytical skills. I wish you good luck in your endeavors.
Do you recommend any financial modeling training?
on top of modelling skills like the other comment said you also need to be willing to take a comp and title hit, and differentiate yourself from other candidates by having deep industry/segment knowledge
Integration experience (only) is not desirable at all for BD, deal sourcing and deal execution corp dev roles, so you'll need a really good story to position your way out of being seen as a cookie cutter "project manager"
Source: made the jump to corp dev from IMO/SMO consulting
Great advice on deep industry/segment knowledge
I would suggest trying to get pre-close experience. Deloitte, Accenture and WITCH have all renamed their PMi SI practices “M&A” but it is just the same PMI tech work and not relevant to corp dev.
Not saying you are doing SI but unless you have pre deal work it will be hard to get anyone interested.
Modeling, understand corporate strategy and build/buy/partner decision making, sourcing companies, legal aspects of corporate law and legal documents used in transactions.
They are all going to ask you about buyside experience, so see how you can spin your due diligence work. You could get a job as an Implementation Project Manager that is corp dev adjacent and improve your modeling skills in the mean time.
Just find a corp dev job post on LinkedIn and figure out the gap :-)
