I’ve put myself up for L4 promo this cycle. Assuming I get it, what would be the best next steps to optimize for long-term growth/TC?
My understanding is that L5->L6 is extremely painful at Google. It may be easier to leave for a handful of years and gain managerial experience before returning.
L4->L5 is less challenging; however, I’m under the impression I can do this quicker at another company (if I leave after being freshly promo’d) AND get higher TC.

superb customer service skills, conflict management, problem solving, administrative skills, time management, detail oriented, managing confidential files, accounts receivable, liability management, can work with or without oversight, working with a team, computer skills, managing subcontractors, taking / documenting / follow up on Maintenance issues, following government regulations (fair housing and OSHA), greeting and assisting prospective residents, office / supply management and more. All of these skills are highly desirable in many different career fields.
The comment mentioning all the skills you use in our field is excellent. If you did any budgeting, mention that as well. My director when I worked for the Army said all or most of those Federal positions need budgeting experience. I worked for the Directorate of Public Works (DPW) on an Army Post.
Also working with outside vendors and doing accounts payable in a timely fashion.
