I am having a hard time explaining how my skills as an experienced Property Manager will translate into other positions. Any ideas?

superb customer service skills, conflict management, problem solving, administrative skills, time management, detail oriented, managing confidential files, accounts receivable, liability management, can work with or without oversight, working with a team, computer skills, managing subcontractors, taking / documenting / follow up on Maintenance issues, following government regulations (fair housing and OSHA), greeting and assisting prospective residents, office / supply management and more. All of these skills are highly desirable in many different career fields.

The comment mentioning all the skills you use in our field is excellent. If you did any budgeting, mention that as well. My director when I worked for the Army said all or most of those Federal positions need budgeting experience. I worked for the Directorate of Public Works (DPW) on an Army Post.

Also working with outside vendors and doing accounts payable in a timely fashion.

Gaining the trust of your residents (& others quickly). Keeping confidential information just that, confidential.

I’ve put myself up for L4 promo this cycle. Assuming I get it, what would be the best next steps to optimize for long-term growth/TC?

My understanding is that L5->L6 is extremely painful at
Google. It may be easier to leave for a handful of years and gain managerial experience before returning.

L4->L5 is less challenging; however, I’m under the impression I can do this quicker at another company (if I leave after being freshly promo’d) AND get higher TC.

I am at a firm now where there aren’t bright line metrics to make PPMD, but think I could make it in 2-5 years. This would be a step down in brand, but might be better from a WLB and getting to start at partner. Haven’t had firm comp talks yet but range was well north of 50% increase in cash comp from current (plus LT equity, draws, etc). Anyone take $ over brand? what are some traps to watch for?

Senior attorneys at v100, how common is it for attorneys who start at small firms to lateral to biglaw? Have you worked with any? Conventional wisdom is always that if you don’t start there it’s hard to “trade up”. My coworker and I just did it to two different great v30 firms, and I’m wondering if it’s really that uncommon? Just out of curiosity. We’re not special counsel with special niche skills or anything, just associates. Pitfalls to beware? Positives?

Hello all, I’m planning for a career switch. As I’m currently in Finance sector and planning to quit my job and to start my career in IT Hardware companies like: HP, Dell and Lenovo etc.. I personally don’t like my present job as it doesn’t relate any part of my interest.

I'm the only employee with a background in finance in a tech startup growing at a 300%+ per year. But it's actually my first finance-related experience (interned and now part-time as I'm in my senior year of undergrad) and don't know really how to have an impact as my knowledge is "limited" and have no technical mentorship.

Any advice/mentorship would be wonderful!

I am currently waiting for the job offer for a consulting firm but I was told it could take several months. Between now and then, I have plenty of time for myself. For people who have profit sharing what have your experiences been? Ours is every March but it is a variable number based on how we do the prior year (duh obviously) but also only my boss gets to decide and he gives no criteria on why he chooses what he does.
