Agree but I do see a trend at Google of hiring people because they have saas experience and not valuing people skills as much. I do agree.

Completely agree. It's not like there's a standardized test for whether or not a salesperson is competent - could be slinging Zoom right now and hit quota every quarter or laid off targeting the hospitality industry at 20% of quota.

Agreed! But we are paid ok what we do. If the fishing pond sucks, go find another water hole.
There are tests for if sales people are competent. It’s called behavioral interviewing and drilling deep into the details of how sales cycles are run. I do agree you can be a great rep with a challenging territory, however I’ve also seen those reps knock it out of the park because they get creative and match use cases to the product / service, not just sell as it’s been given to you from product marketing.
Sounds interesting I have not.
I've held roles where my entire book of business was untapped and in my first full year at one particular company, I was the top seller because I built relationships and trust with potential partners that translated into business, and we had a good product. I held a role somewhere else later on where I was the newbie and was straight up given a shit territory and set up to fail from day one. It can go either way, but I agree.
Please help me get a closing role and full time. You would be doing Something you will never great and paying it forward I am number 1 I. Numbers at Google and there is 50 of us making a ton of money and won’t let us go full time it’s nonsense. It’s not right no path to conversion just empty promises. Been there for a year and a half and any company would be thrilled to have me in a closing role. Anyone help that feels my pain because I am scared shitless and taking interviews but can’t say anything . They have us trapped in this box. The insurance sucks we have to pay out of pocket for education like Linux etc. I been studying for over a year to get my GCP cloud architect certificate and finally taking it in a month so I just don’t know what to do... Any direction would be greatly appreciated! Tired of getting treated like a second class citizen. I asked my manager if I can get access to some training that only GOOGLERS have access too and he said no! Could you imagine someone in your company wanting to learn more so they are more marketable and learn more about the products and they say no! They got us right where they want us.. just getting frustrated they promised full time months ago now there saying they don’t know when. Ugh. Thanks for letting me vent!!! Nice forum to have.
