So, I got through to final stages at a management consultancy where they all ‘loved me’ apparently. Job being advertised at £50-70k, they said I have potential & if they do want to offer me a role (within 2 wks as snr mgt team all on holiday wtf) would be a starting salary of £45k with salary increases (timeline of this increase tbd) in accordance with my performance. I’m looking for some advice on the best companies to apply to as an AE/ Account Manager new to the North American market! The majority of the positions that I have previously worked are combined closer and customer service positions, completing end-to-end sales including the hunt, the close and the retention process!

My experience is in the FMCG sector, Real Estate and hospitality. I am interested in positions in the tech industry and would appreciate any referrals to companies.

I work for a decent sized company and have an opportunity to become an AE for a fairly new stand alone product or an account manager working with existing business. How would you go about choosing your next position?

Would selling Data Analytic software as an AE be a good stepping stone to eventually become an AE for cyber security?

My company covers in depth results each week, including meetings set/attended, wins, revenue, retention etc. I feel as if evaluating in such depth is detrimental to the psyche, as you never get to “ride the high.” In addition, some weeks are simply slower than others, and it’s not always representative of what the results at the end of the period or quarter will be. Is this not a big deal, and I’m I placing too much importance on it? Or is it beneficial to review results less frequently?

AWS lowballed but I negotiated to match Cloudflare. Cloudflare offers more equity but AWS has a higher base.

I love Cloudflare. The people are great but it’s an engineering culture and the sales team isn’t as well shaped up and I can’t go for a promotion until at least 18 months of tenure. I am an investor in the company and think of them super highly. I’ve already got half a years SDR experience and AWS promotes quicker.
