How much is your monthly salary?
This would be about half of your monthly take home pay. Rule thumb is to keep that number under 30%, maybe 40% if you live in a high cost of living area. Everyone’s situation is different so maybe you want to try to make this work, but map out what a realistic budget would look like each month before you sign anything.
Also please take in count the rent is 1,800 but you need to add the services and it might be $2k
It would be pretty tight if you are living alone, I'll use myself as an example. I make $63,000 living in Indiana.
Rent = $1200
Utilities vary but come out anywhere from $100 to about $160.
Wifi = $50
Car insurance (not full coverage) = $91
Gas = ~$180 (I drive around 1000 miles per month)
Phone = $50
Student loans = $389
Subscriptions (gym/streaming, etc.) = ~$50
Food = ~$400
This comes out to $2570 per month
I have 5% come out of my check for 401k each month and my health insurance is free through my job. My checks after taxes and everything each month come to about $3600, which would leave $1030 leftover. Assuming you would have similar expenses in an $1800 apartment, I'll subtract $600 from the $1030 leftover to adjust. This would leave $430 leftover on a $63,000 salary and I don't have a car payment right now and this doesn't account for toiletries or doing anything fun on the weekends. On a $56,000 salary, you'd be taking home around $400 less per month, leaving you with nothing leftover at the end of the month.
So if your monthly expenses are similar to mine then moving into that apartment is technically possible, but you would likely really struggle and be pretty stressed out. Also wouldn't have any money leftover to enjoy yourself every once in awhile. If you have someone that would move in with you and help with bills, go for it! But if you're talking about moving by yourself I'd advise to find a cheaper place if you can. Good luck and hope this helps!
