OP: i feel behind in life since I make 65K. how much did you make?
Person: I made 50K
OP: oh great, so I'm at least in front of you. Self-esteem repaired.
Bruh, you feel behind? With this post, all you're doing is looking for someone else to stand in front of. Find some worth within yourself. Only compete with your future self and your needs. Make money to fund the lifestyle you want, not to compare to others
This post is gold!!!
I was making around 20 at that age. Unbelievable
Like $10/hr... LOL
Change your mindset, OP.
Same. $10.90 p/h.
$0 I was still a student!

Be 23 at 23. Your brain and career are still developing. Try lots of things. Take the next 10 years to figure out who you are. Fail, try again, quit a job and relationship, get dumped, get laid off, travel, make new friends. Just keep going.
Was homeless at 23
When I was 23…. Like $10 an hour.
Now, $240k
You got time kid. Slow your roll …
Plus, if you only take the highest paying jobs early in your career, you’re setting yourself up for failure. Sometimes the highest growth opportunities in terms of skills and income long term come from positions that pay in the mid range.
Focus on learning and growing your skills early in your career so that you can make big money later in your career! If you focus on making the most money early in your career, you’re gonna knee cap your growth and income long term. 💡
Lol at 23 I was being an intern literally not getting paid anything, even sleeping at the agency bcs of how expensive NY is. Advertising is specially tough for immigrants to get a job so we gotta stand out from the others
Same here and so true
I made $12.3k the year I was 23.
14k a year as a grad student. Lived on beans and rice. You're doing great, just keep at it!
I was making a fool of myself - don't want to sound condescending or naggy but never ever compare your journey with others.
And at 23, 65K is pretty alright. I was making negative -35K due to student loans and my love for things that depreciate...
$12/hr two kids and 20 hours of over time every week to make ends meet.
Had a business degree already. Count your blessings no matter how big or small.
Oh geez... If you're feeling behind in life at 23, then by your chosen metric, I'm way behind at 43. I didn't make 65K a year until I was almost 39. If we're evaluating where I am in life by strictly financial metrics, than maybe I am behind some of my peers. But I'm probably also ahead of some of them too.
Rather than measure where you are in life by a financial measure, maybe consider taking a look at your life through some different lenses. Are you generally happy in your life? Are you generally healthy? Do you have a handful of strong solid relationships around who can lift you up when you fall? Do you have people in your life who will call you out on your shit when you need it? Do you have people who love you? Do you have someone you love? Do you have passions and pursuits that you enjoy?
Yes financial is certainly a metric you can use, but not everyone has the things I've asked about above. Those in their own right also have an impact on overall happiness too, and in some ways can be even more impactful than the money you're making.
Rather than evaluate your situation in dollars and cents, take stock in the other things that you have. You may find that $$$ won't really have an impact on how far ahead or behind you are in this game called life.
$42k as a pricing analyst - and I was tooo excited! Relax- you’re doing great!!
I was a roadie for Hank Williams Jr. making about 35K back when God and dirt were young, but the bad news was I was working with Hank Williams, Jr.
Wow you are actually whining on a social media site about being 23 and making 65k. Please go have several seats!! Entitled much?
150k. And my friend makes 300k. Another makes 30k.
I am 26 with 5 YOE and 2 degrees, I make CAD $55K. You should call yourself lucky OP
At 23 I was in the Navy, making 30-35k a year.
When I was 23, I literally made $11 an hour. You're doing great
$45k at 23. ~$650k at 42. Put in the work, play the long game, and never lose site of what’s important (e.g., family, friends, health, well-being). You’ll do great. You’ll live a fun a rewarding life! And you’ll retire happy!
