Yes! Take the job. Do what they’ve given you well, and they may trust you with more! You never know until you get in. There will definitely be new things for you to learn, and your background will probably make you better at it.
And yes, keep looking in the meantime! Since its contract, that’s totally fair.
Thanks! This reassured me!!
Think of it as an opportunity to get promoted. Whenever I see that kind of backwards move, followed quickly (1 year or less) by a promotion, it says a lot about the person. Nothing is ever below you. Great leaders know this.
Thanks! I don’t think I’ll get promoted if it’s a short term contract. I just don’t want to lose my AD level by taking a SAM role especially since I was only newly promoted before I found myself without a job because of corona. But I hear you! And think I’ll follow your advice!
Truly understand your termination clause and how they can remedy breach issues. We had someone who didn’t and it’s shitty for them and us.
Take the job. Do it well. Fulfill your contract and keep looking at other opps out there. Move on at the end.
I know this can sound ungrateful for people that are still looking (I totally get it. Was in your shoes up until today) but do you guys reckon I can just take the job but keep looking for something that better suits me and therefore not stick around for the full length of my contract?
What does "transcreational stuff" mean?
Lol I wwas wondering the same thing during my interview. Thank god they explained it without me having to ask.
Basically adaptations of a master creative. E.g a snickers ad that was made in the US, but adapt it to let’s say European market or to specific countries.
Take it and prove yourself to them, while also enjoying the slower transition back to working. Perhaps this role will come with more stability and less stress, so you can spend some time keeping an eye out for longer term, AD openings.
People quit full time jobs after a few months. Don’t worry about breaking the contract and keep looking while making sure you are doing your best work. I started a part time freelance gig in Aug and they bumped me up to full time freelance within a month. Once you are in the door and doing well, who knows what can happen! Good luck.
Some news: finally received my contract... and it says 2 months notice.. I’ve never had to give 2 months notice before? Is that normal?
As a fulltimer it was always 4 weeks and for freelance roles it used to be 2 weeks.
In the mean time, I got contacted by Anomaly for a freelance role and it now sucks that I kinda have accepted the other offer because no one will wait 2 months to hire a freelancer ughhhh
