I got into sales late in life. I’ve been in IT sales inside/BDR for about 5-6 years. I have been one of the top inside sales people at both the companies I have worked at but cannot get promoted to an outside role. I’m 52 years old. Does anyone know a place that will give an old guy that will work hard an opportunity to get to the outside? Feel like I’m stuck.

Remove “inside sales” from your resume and just put sales. Inside sales is much harder then outside sales so I don’t feel like you’re pulling the wool over anyone’s eyes by removing the “inside” on your resume.

I knew someone in the same position as you. He was in his mid 50s and was never able to move into field sales. You just need to cast a wider net and leave out “inside” from your conversations. Of course, if someone directly asks, don’t lie, but no need to bring it up because at the end of the day, sales is sales and with Covid, we’ve all pretty much been inside sales for the last few years.

As I'm moving to a new role in a small company, I have a doubt about my salary structure like the Basic salary part is only 20,000 while my take home is 62k after all deductions.

I'm concerned because the leave encashment & other things totally depends on the basic salary.

Are there not any rules for the Basic salary to be at a certain % of CTC or it depends totally on the company?

Also PF deductions they are offering only 1800 p.m but considering 20000 basic it should be 12% of 20000 right?
