I got laid off this week from JP Morgan UK. Basically, my role was as a Software Engineer, I would like to have guidance for my resume and job hunt. As I was on a sponsored Tier 2 visa, I have less than 90 days left to find a new job with sponsorship in the UK to continue my stay. As said, I have been applying since the consultation period was notified, there are hardly any interviews that I have landed till date. Is this because of the FY end?

So I've had 2 hiring managers and several recruiters from Amazon reach out to me about applying for some open positions with the company (android). I completed the coding assessment and now they want me to go through a round of 5 hour interviews next week. Is there a good chance I'll be hired if engineering managers are reaching out to me? I'm really not sure how badly I want to work for them and I don't want to be laid off months after being hired on. Anyone know what Amazon hiring is like?

The challenge is that market is over saturated with talent from FAANG and other places where there were many layoffs, I know you might have heard this argument in many places. There is still hope for tech talent. Try accentuating your niche skills in your resume. If you are on a visa, explore options for switching to another visa type which might free you from sponsorship requirements. I know it's easier said than done, but there are legal and by-the-books options out there. Having seen some of friends on visa going through this, I feel you bro. Wishing you all the very best!
MongoDB is hiring, not sure your actual role or location but give this a shot: https://grnh.se/1f623e381us

FY end is different for companies.
At Accenture, it's August.
I would push all of my chips into GenAI if I were you, but that takes training.
Most of it's available on YouTube for free. Good luck.
Wise is hiring.
I think you will get only 60 days to find new job.
Market is not great at present.
Try in other skill sets as well. all the best
Will be helpful for others as well if you could share more details like reason for lay off, how many days before they informed you, how much time you spent with company.
I'm in US and coming week is my last too. Have had a few rec calls and 1 or 2 interviews. It's very hard to get a new role right now. I've been reaching out to my network and asking for opportunities in their companies or referrals. That way I get a little more traction.
For all those asking the reason of layoffs, they just said 'it's reduction in force and has nothing to do with performance'. But i highly doubt that.. I was an avg performer but was out on maternity break and when I came back, RIF was communicated within a few weeks. So yeah, no real reason to layoff unless you've had a GGG/or two Gs in year end rating. One of my friends was put on a PIP last year and got RIFed same time with me.. there are multiple factors that upper management take into consideration. If there are no sufficient works for the team, the manager is asked to pick people for RIF. That's another reason.
Those who got RIFed and already got new offer, share your insights and help us out.. 😅
I'm not on a visa so that's a lot relieving, I know. Good luck to you OP! It's touch out there but keep applying and tailor your resume to a few roles/companies that you REaLLy want.. that will boost chances.. :)
Why were you laid off? Did they gave any reason?
Any reason? Which LOB were you a part of? Were you in London/Glasgow?
Layoffs are going crazy everywhere! I’m sorry for what you are going through
