i grew up speaking another language at home, but I have so much trouble understanding foreign accents, especially if they’re fast talkers or talking about subjects that I don’t fully understand during zoom/webex calls 🥴 usually blame it on my headphones, speakers, or “you broke up for a second”. I think I may have made a huge mistake today. My skip level director sent out an email about something and asked us for feedback. I sent back a note and provided some. One of the things I said was that our job satisfaction might be improved if we could do more of X kind of work instead of Y kind of work that we do so much of in our group. The next thing I know, I get a ping from his EA to set up time for me to chat with him and my director tomorrow. I am getting in trouble tomorrow, right?

Everyone who I want to like me or to hangout with doesn’t respond to my texts or tells me they are too busy. This weekend I reached out to 12 people to see if they wanted to grab coffee or a drink or go for a walk. The number of people who just didn’t respond astounded me. I ended up eating dinner in bed by myself and getting brunch on my own.

The only people who reach out to me, I don’t want to hangout with. I don’t have the same interests as them and have to try really hard… cont below

Sometimes I walk around my house calling my dogs name, pretending I don’t see him, even though he’s right there on the couch. I walk around “searching” for him. It makes me happy because my dog then tries to cuddle and jump on me as if to show me “hooman, what’s wrong with your eyes? Is I invisible?”
