I had some missteps in the early stage of my career and want to catch up on career progression. I'm a senior associate right now and outperform my peers. Does Big4 ever make an exception to early promote a senior associate to manager? What is the the least amount of time needed for senior to manager promotion?

I’ve seen 1 year, but in exceptional cases and based on business needs. This is a better question to ask internally and align with your coach and leaders on well in advance of the promotion timelines for your group.

like

They may promote you after 2 years as a senior if there’s a business case to be made for you - and you’re a standout performer. I’m making a push for manager this upcoming May (1.5 years associate, 2.5 years senior)

like

What is the business case? Are you bringing clients in already?

Yes I got early promo to manager but I feel like I got lucky. Yes, I had best rating so that’s goes without saying that it’s required. However, the more important factor is need. There has to be needs for manager and they aren’t able to fill. Also, don’t expect management to come and give u the offer. If u feel u are ready, start pushing PPMd that u want to be considered. I told my PPMd in December before busy season and they said okay do xyz and we will consider you. I did that and then come may I told them hey I did xyz and they acknowledged and pushed me through. Goodlu k and hope this is helpful

2.5 years of corporate accounting and 2.5 years in audit is a great mix. Doesn't sound like a misstep to me!

What is your experience?

2.5 years of corporate accounting experience, and 2.5 years of experience in big4, first year senior

For those of you in healthcare related account management, what is your healthcare background? I am clinical and getting ready to hire a higher level account manager. I don’t want to miss the right person because of my bias, so im wondering how many healthcare related AMs have healthcare/clinical experience… thanks in advance!

Got a 30% salary bump, via an offer for Senior Consultant S&O from Deloitte. Currently underpaid at EY Advisory. I'm MBA and this year is my promotion year at EY for Manager. What to do? Get demoted and move to D? Or counter at EY? Even if EY matches my salary, and promote me to Manager, I will be an EY Manager with a Deloitte SC salary, and probably won't be able to go to D in the future. What do you think? I have built up a good relationship with my Partner and SMs at EY though.
