Hey folks
I got a call from TCS to interview for a new unit formed within org with the name of Business Transformation Group as per new org restructuring. Anyone from TCS who can help to understand more about this?
Does it cater to only niche technologies or how does this actually function?

Sounds like a Gong interview. Demo something you’re most comfortable with. They probably want to see you demoing at your best (which is why they let you choose the app vs having to demo something they specify)
Pick an app in your current company’s tech stack (or whatever your company sells if applicable) and map out a click path along with value-add statement. Don’t forget to sprinkle in a little discovery during your demo.
Good luck!
Thank you for the insight!!
i would do a mock prez on the actual company you’re applying for?? unless you’re just way more versed in workday/teams
I think it always makes sense to demo their actual product assuming there is enough information about it online (especially if they have free sandboxes). I once did a demo for my old company’s product for a prospective employer and got great feedback but in the end I got passed on because of lack of direct experience working with their product
If it’s Gong, they have a lot of Tableau alums, so a kickass Tableau demo could work in your favor
Would maybe show something with Power Apps if you go the Microsoft route.
Agreed, power apps would def get the job done!
Kind of surprised my company doesn’t have people do this during the interview process.
It should be table stakes for an SE interview process…
I do this for hires on my team and we also ask them to do a demo of something they are comfortable with. Some points:
- The goal is usually to see how you can lead a call and convince a client to make a decision. Where the decision can be to buy software, upgrade something,or even making workflow changes. The important point should be can you convince them to walk away agreeing to make the decision you proposed.
- Not everything is demoable with a sandbox. And honestly unless you have good data for that sandbox it isn't gonna be great anyway. You should be able to present without an actual demo sandbox
You aren't demoing to me so caveat on that for above but if the company is looking for SEs this is what they should be doing and paying attention too
Thank you!! If hired, this would be my first SE role so that perspective really helps. Much appreciated!
I received feedback from an SE on the team and she advised NOT demoing their company’s product since I have not worked in it before. She recommended demoing a competitor since I have worked in that system before. Unfortunately, that system does not have a free sandbox so I’m stuck utilizing ppt slides & screenshots. I’m struggling with only using screenshots given a good demo is conversational and a good SE should be able to pívot according to their pain points to show features the prospect is interested in. Tough to do if you’re only working with screenshots. Curious if anyone has provided a mock demo with only screenshots or if anyone has advice? Thanks!!
